About

In 1938 a gentleman by the name of Meredith Benadum opened a bakery, delicatessen, and catering service in the Toledo area after spending many years working for another bakery.  Mr. Benadum built the business and became famous for his wedding cakes and delicious eats.  To this day we will have people stop in and see if we have any of these recipes they remember from their childhood including his family.  After his death in 1974 his son Meredith (Mick) Jr. took over the business continuing on the family legacy of providing the best wedding cakes and catering in the area.  At his unexpected passing in 1982 at the age of 51 his sister Betty discontinued the catering and bakery part of the business but continued renting out the tables, chairs, and food service equipment that they provided with the catering services.  As Betty approached retirement age her children were not interested in the business so she put the business up for sale in 1987.  Gene and Lyn Buckland both working in the hospitality business for 15 years wanted to go into business for themselves.  Lyn’s brother Mike Stanton was a commercial real estate agent and came across this opportunity for them and it was a perfect match.  Gene and Lyn have built the business over the past 38 years to what it is today.  Gene and Lyn are now semi-retired and the business is run by their daughter Michelle and her husband Rob.  Proudly family owned since 1938.
